About Lancaster County Life

Lancaster County Life grew out of a combination of my personal blog, and the brainchild of another blogger by the name of Travis Erwin (who, by the way, is an incredible writer from Amarillo, TX who I expect to see on the New York Times Bestseller List some day).

This brainchild was called My Town Mondays and was a blogging meme. Unlike most memes, people did not post one special post and then tag others to follow suit, instead anyone could participate at any time, writing about some aspect of their home towns and then get published on a weekly list of bloggers who’d participated.

I am from Lancaster County in Pennsylvania. I spent most of my life in Ephrata, but also have spent several years in Manheim, and in the outskirts of Lancaster.

While I don’t have the same gift of narrative that Travis does, and I don’t live in an exotic location as several other MTM bloggers do and have, there is a lot right here well worth writing about.

At one point, I wrote an article on Penn Cinema in Lititz. Within a few weeks, I’d outranked Penn Cinema’s official website and even outranked the owner for his own name! This was not done on purpose, but it did show me an opening on the internet where I might be of some benefit to the general public, who are living here, or who may be considering a move or a visit here.

Lancaster County is a wonderful place in many ways, and one of the reasons is because technology like the internet isn’t such a huge part of life for many people here. Of course, most good things do have their draw backs, and one of those is that because so much of the community isn’t internet savvy, it’s very difficult to find the information that you want!

Writing about life in Lancaster County isn’t that easy, because there’s so much of it to address! Quite frankly, I’m a bit overwhelmed by all of the things that need to be written about. For that reason, I ask for your help. Suggestions on what needs to be addressed are absolutely welcome. Opinions on businesses and events in the area are appreciated. If you see a restaurant review or a business listing that you are familiar with, please comment on that post and give us your own review.  If you have questions, feel free to ask them. If I don’t have an answer, perhaps another reader will.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated, and I hope that you’re enjoying your Lancaster County Life!

I lived in Lancaster for just under 2 years after college, but it wasn’t a place for a young single guy when Philadelphia beckoned. A year-and-a-half ago my job sent me out for training for 5 weeks in Lancaster County. Afternoons were free and while the other guys were checking out strip clubs in Harriburg I started checking out old stomping grounds like Root’s Auctions. I fell in love with Lancaster County. Circumstances have changed, I’m married now and she wants to have children. I can’t think a better place to raise a family than Lancaster County and we’re checking houses now.
