I ordered from Sukhothai in Lancaster, PA through Carryout Courier so I can’t describe the actual restaurant. But it’s the food that’s most important right? And this Thai restaurant in Lancaster, PA has a lot to offer.

The Spicy Thai Sausages were a little dry in texture, but the lemongrass and lime leaves gave the sausage a very nice flavor overall (particularly the lemongrass). The star of the show, however, was the very spicy dipping sauce that was served with the sausage. Mmmm…

The Shrimp Rolls are beyond awesome in my opinion. The very simple ingredients of black tiger shrimp and spring roll wrappers (the menu says that the shrimp is seasoned, but all I tasted was the shrimp and spring roll wrappers- just the way I want it, yum) were excellent. They’re a little smaller than they appear on the menu photo, but they serve 7 per order, and come with a slightly sweet dipping sauce.

The Red Curry Fish (Pad Phet Pra) was surprisingly good. It has a creamy sauce, slices of coconut, broccoli, snow peas, carrots, red peppers, onions, and bamboo shoots, and comes in mild, medium, and hot. It’s normally served with tilapia, but basa or salmon can be substituted.

To be honest, I picked off the coconut (not my fave), but the tilapia was wonderful. It was tender and flaky, perfectly cooked. There were two tilapia filets, making the dish mostly fish with veggies on the side. I ordered medium heat, and while there was a bit of heat on the back of the tongue, it definitely wasn’t overly strong.

The Banana cake was good, but not an actual cake. There were two slices of banana topped by a sweet kind of rice. It actually tasted as though the rice was made with Earl Grey tea, but I doubt that it actually was. The presentation was cool though, as it was served in a pyramid shape, wrapped in what I assume are banana leaves.

The vegetable rolls (on the appetizer menu) were a surprise. They’re vegetables, cilantro, and rice rolled up in a rice wrapper.  What I didn’t expect is that the vegetables and cilantro are raw, and the rice wrapper is steamed or boiled, leaving it sticky and soft.  If you like raw vegetables and cilantro, it may be worth your while to try, but otherwise, try one of their other appetizers.
